William Ross Freeman, a master craftsman, devoted father, brother, uncle, grandpa and servant of the
Lord, peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 87.
Bill was born in Joplin, Missouri, to Jesse Howard Freeman and Ruby Marie Green and learned from an early age that anything worth doing was worth doing right. This philosophy became the cornerstone of his life and his businesses. He founded BJ Cabinets and Millwork and later ran B/J Sales, a small outlet for small farmers to buy the items they needed to succeed. He was a fixture in his community; he was not just known as a craftsman for building quality, handmade cabinets and furniture. He was well known for his shared garden, Judy's Canning, honesty, and integrity. To Bill, his word was his bond, and a handshake was a contract.
Bill, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was devoted to service as a Home Teacher, Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout Den Master, and Ward Clerk. He had a strong, fervent testimony of the gospel and firmly believed, "when ye are in service of your fellow man, ye are in service of your God." He held the eternal perspective that families are forever and taught his children the value of a job well done and that being a member of the church and living the gospel were prime directives in all we do.
Above all, Bill was a family man. He built a home based on service, love, faith, and devotion to truth. He took in foster children, his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, when they felt abandoned and alone. He taught his grandchildren how to milk a cow, fish, and the value of farming. He loved reading Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey Westerns, and he instilled a love of reading in his children and grandchildren. He was an avid storyteller, often recounting tales of his courtship and marriage to Judy at age 17, and of his ancestors, aunts, and uncles.
Bill is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Connie Sue; devoted and beloved wife, Judy; several brothers and sisters, and his parents. All with whom he is now reunited.
He is survived by his three sons, Jesse (Myra), James, and Bryan (Debbie); Brothers, James (Marilyn) and Jack, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All will miss his quiet wisdom, mischievous wit, and love.
Services will be held in the spring in Utah.
