IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicholas Harold
Andersen
September 19, 1952 – November 22, 2024
Nicholas Harold Andersen (Nick), a man of unwavering strength, humor, and love, passed away peacefully on November 22 in Omaha, surrounded by his children. Born on September 19, 1952, Nicholas lived a life full of adventure, passion, and devotion to his family.
He was a 1971 Benson High School graduate and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1971-1975 as an Aerospace Medical Service Technician (Medic). He studied Business Management at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha. Nick, being an entrepreneur, went on to form three businesses over his working career. A craftsman, Nick had a carpentry business, buildinghomes, cabinetry, roofing, he could do it all. His passion for photography turned into a career and he started, Action Photo. He specialized in sports and wildlife
photography. Closing in on his retirement years, Nick's cowboy heart found its way back to the ranch. And thus, begun his final business, RC Western. He trained, cared for and sold horses. Nick retired to Pisgah, IA with his partner Christine Lawson-Gernandt. There he cared for their land, horses, donkey, dogs, chickens, cats, and any other animal that walked onto his property.
Known for his cowboy spirit and fun personality, Nicholas was a man who found joy in life's simple yet meaningful pleasures. Taking in a sunset and being thankful for a beautiful sunrise, caring for his beloved horse, Red, spending time with family and showing them his ways, exploring the outdoors, bow hunting, capturing moments through his camera lens, enjoying a movie, or tending to his garden, he embraced every day with an open heart and a free spirit. He was a loving father, grandfather, partner and friend, teaching those he cared about lessons that extended far beyond words—how to fish, handle a gun with respect, and, most importantly, how to find laughter in the everyday. His quick wit and knack for jokes brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Nick is survived by his children, Heather Dolezal (Jeff) and Sarah Tague; Grandchildren, Muranda (Josh), Logan, Maxim, and Sonora; Great-
Grandchildren, Susan, Aubrey, Brantley, Jolie and Jameson; His loving life partner, Christine. All who will forever cherish the memories and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
Preceded in Death by his only son, Justin Nicholas; His parents, Frederick and Pauline (Iydell) Andersen. And many other loved family and friends. May he be near you.
