IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Joseph
Walter, Jr.
July 28, 1950 – January 18, 2026
James (Jim) Joseph Walter, Jr., age 75, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on July 28, 1950, Jim was raised in Omaha and remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped him throughout his life.
Jim proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that reflected his strong sense of duty and perseverance. Over the years, he held several different careers, but the one closest to his heart was owning and operating the Rendezvous Bar, where he built lasting friendships and countless stories. In later years, Jim found great joy working as a mechanic at his son Scott's plumbing company, a role he continued right up until his passing.
Outside of work, Jim was a devoted Nebraska Cornhusker and Kansas City Chiefs football fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his teams. He enjoyed good conversation, simple pleasures, and his favorite Coors Light. Above all, Jim valued time with family, laughter, and the everyday moments that made life meaningful.
Jim will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his loyalty to family and friends, his love of football and good company, and the steady presence he brought to everyone lucky enough to know him.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Lou Walter; his parents, James Sr. and Leola Walter; sister, Debbie Cody.
He is survived by his children, Christopher (Megan) Walter and their children Haley, Seth, David, and Jacob; Scott (Amy) Walter and their children Shelby (Rene), Briana (Jacob), and Tyson; Jamie Kirschbaum and her children Kasie (Connor), Lila, and Champ; Frank Krimmel and Kirsten Greenameyer, sister, Lynda (Frank) Schab; his great grandchildren, Gemma, Charles, Kylo, Cooper, Ellie, Penny, Emilia, Etzli, and Sydney, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the family for future designation.
